Boss back from Australia

My boss is LY. Today he's at work, offering everyone some gummy candies he bought from Australia. This makes me more sure that the blog I read before is not about this company.

I told my husband, "What kind of monster would share candies?" That's true.

He told me how SMT called all the way from Malaysia just to let me have an opportunity here. As he said, we were having lunch together with my colleagues, SMT, DA, AC, MN and AG. I felt so grateful.

I think I can rely to SMT for some issues. So I told her about the contents for Melaka The Guide that are mostly copied from the Internet.

She was shocked. She had no idea.

"How can you check?" asked PV, who is also working the same department with SMT.

"I just need to copy a phrase and Google it," I said. "And I believe the contents were also written by 3 different people."

"It's true," SMT confirmed. "The 3 ex-Editors; JM, RC and the other girl I forgot already."

We had some briefing afterward (brief for new staff) and I went home late again.

AF is loosen up today. I think she has less work to do now since Melaka The Guide will be published soon. She requested for my calling cards since she assumed an Editor should be there in Melaka tomorrow to see the corresponding people who worked together on the book.

But DA said I didn't need to go as I have to start working on KL The Guide and Klang Valley 4 Locals.

Exhausting Day

Not sure what is wrong with AF.

She told me to complete my stuff today but then they're going to Melaka on Friday anyway.

Why did I rush stay up late at night to do everything then?

All the contents were stolen from the Internet. I spent so much time rewriting them because I was worried of copyright infringement.

2nd day

The fact that we're forced to do a daily report and email it to our boss, LY, each day before leaving work, is kinda hard for me to follow.

NY did not explain very well on how to do it. Or more like, it's a very confusing system, as well as a waste of time compared to just marking our deadlines and tasks in our calendars.

AF is a person really hard to work with. I'm not sure whether she's a perfectionist or dumb.. but everything has to be repeated multiple times to make her understand. She also expects me to know what to do, and she got upset when I edited the write ups on pdf format instead of in a new Word file.

I went home at 9pm or so. It was really dark and I was getting worried of not finding a taxi. But the taxi driver I found told me that he can pick me up tomorrow, and he gave me his number.

And I came home, my husband said I just signed to a very unfair agreement, where I must give 30 days notice upon resignation, while the company can fire me with 24 hours notice.

My first day

I went to work with taxi that cost me rm8, without traffic. I reached the office at 8.30am even though it opens at 9am.

NY, the secretary gave me an employment contract to read and sign. I just skimmed through and signed it. Plus, being desperate to start working and earn money made me not wanting to be hesitant about it. Just go for it.

What's weird is that she keeps the original and I get the copied version.

Anyway, after she set up my email and stuff, she sent a welcoming email to everyone to introduce me, together with another guy, AZ.

I also figured out at this point that everyone here is identified by their initials. Mine is NS.

At least 24 people are in the building, but nobody seemed so friendly to one another.

I get to know AF, our Graphic Designer. She is not a friendly person either. She just passed me so stuff to proofread, and went back to her PC.

Our Business Exec who is supposed to bring in advertisers for our guide books is called DA. Really big fella. We did not talk much as he is more like an outdoor sales person.

I'm supposed to proofread the whole book of Melaka The Guide within 2 days. So I brought the softcopy home and continued working on it until late at night.

Taxi back home is rm12.

The blog

Today we went to get some new clothes for the office look. We spent over RM200 and more extras also for a notebook (organizer).

Curious with the response I got from Bluedale yesterday, I searched on Google for 'don't work at Bluedale' and found a very old blog, http://bluedale-bloodycompany.blogspot.com/2007/11/blood-sucker-company-bluedale.html

It was started it 2007 and so many horrible things were written there.

I was like, "It's probably another company." and just closed it. I doubt any company can be that bad.
